About

I am a secondary school teacher of Social Studies and English having taught in the US and China for the better part of a decade.  Having recently completed a Master’s Degree in Global Studies Education I take an international perspective towards the role of education in that students and schools need to recognize not only their role in the local community but international one as well.   I see students’ education as part of the globalized world, meaning their learning considers international culture and history but where the domestic and local have the overriding primacy.

Being an international educator I have gained experience teaching Cambridge Examination A-Levels, International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement.  Thus I well understand issues surrounding implementing curriculum.  I have taught large groups of students (40+) and small groups from kindergarten to high school.

This blog is part evaluation & analysis, part commentary on educational issues in the news, and part diary to my professional career to help me articulate the problems and questions at hand.  I do this to help me clarify the complications at hand and help myself learn because teaching is the best learning method.
